Understanding and addressing systemic oppression: Freedom dreaming in music education
Freedom dreams center the needs of those most impacted by structural barriers (such as racism and the effects of capitalism, in addition to homophobic, sexist, and other practices) to explicitly imagine how those barriers can be eliminated. In this talk, Dr. Lewis will detail systemic oppression through the lens of freedom dreaming and consider how common music education practices can embrace anti-oppressive approaches.
