26 UofT Music faculty and alumni receive JUNO Award nominations!

The 2017 JUNO Award nominations were announced earlier this month and include over a dozen for members of UofT's Faculty of Music community. Recordings featuring 26 faculty and alumni were honoured with nominations across seven Album of the Year categories - from jazz to classical, solo instrumental to large ensemble - and in the Classical Composition of the Year category.

Several faculty received multiple nominations including Dave Young and Terry Clarke, with competing recordings in the Jazz Album of the Year: Group category. In this same category, all but one recording feature Faculty of Music instructors and alumni! Professor Christos Hatzis also received multiple nominations for ground-breaking collaborative project Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation. Alumnus Andrew Staniland's critically acclaimed Dark Star Requiem received two nominations for Classical Composition of the Year and Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance.

Dark Star Requiem joins Professor Hatzis' Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation in the former category and Assistant Professor Daniel Taylor and The Trinity Choir's Four Thousand Winter in the latter.
