This was a competition for works for full orchestra on the subject of “Peace”. The competition took place in three separate stages.
- The original announcement described a process of initial submissions of orchestral compositions (there were 83 submissions from across the world).
- The shortlisted candidates were commissioned to compose a “Peace” symphony.
- The “Peace Symphonies” composed by the shortlisted candidates (scored for full orchestra and in chamber music versions) were adjudicated with an original plan to issue three prizes (the second with an award of $50,000 euros and the top prize of $100,000 euros).
- Prokhor Protasov was awarded the top prize. No other prizes have been presently announced.
- The award also includes a performance by a major symphony orchestra (TBA) of Prokhor’s “Peace Symphony”.
