Dr. Emily Dolan is Gardner Cowles Associate Professor of Musicology at Harvard University. She specializes in late Enlightenment and early Romantic music and aesthetics. In particular, she focuses on issues of orchestration and instrumentality and on the intersections of music, science, and technology. Her first book, which appeared from Cambridge University Press in 2013, is titled The Orchestral Revolution: Haydn and the Technologies of Timbre.
