Student success is nurtured in an inclusive, collaborative environment. Classes are small, one-to-one instruction is frequent, and support for and from peers is encouraged at every turn. Students from diverse backgrounds work to help each other realize their full musical potential. Faculty and staff know students by name and provide inspiration and positivity.
Our support also addresses material needs. All graduate and undergraduate applicants are automatically considered for centrally awarded scholarships as well as Faculty of Music scholarships awarded for academic merit and/or audition performance. Graduate students may apply for teaching assistantships and external research awards.

Every year in hundreds of concerts held on and off campus, we offer students rich opportunities for performing in solo, chamber music, and ensemble settings. The Faculty sponsors a wide variety of student ensembles encouraging exceptional creative collaboration.

Context counts. The Faculty of Music is part of a great world university set in the core of a great multicultural city. Facilities available to students at the Faculty of Music include the 815-seat MacMillan Theatre, a venue with a full fly tower and an orchestra pit for 50 musicians, and the 450-seat Walter Hall.

Creativity needs support. We make individual and ensemble practice rooms, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and a digital composition lab available to students.

The U of T Music Library houses Canada's largest music research collection. It includes over 300,000 books, scores, and periodicals; nearly 200,000 sound recordings; extensive archival collections; and access to millions of electronic resources.
