Research Support for Students
The Faculty of Music Research Office provides students with tools and resources to make the most of their studies at the University of Toronto. The Office's development and delivery of support services to graduate students aims at promoting excellence in graduate professional development and academic success. Students have access to:
exploratory meetings to discuss research and scholarly study, as well as to identify potential funding sources aligned with student interests;
comprehensive reviews of grant, award and scholarship applications at the final draft stage of writing; and
training workshops and information sessions on funding opportunities and best practices for preparing strong grant application materials.

Funding consultations and application reviews
Working with a Research Grants Officer (RGO) through the Faculty of Music Research Office is a great way to position yourself for academic and scholarly success. Graduate students in music are invited to book individual exploratory meetings with an RGO to:
Discuss granting opportunities relevant to your research interests and your short- and long-term goals
Develop a grantable research project
Create an action plan to build a timeline toward an application deadline
Start an application for a funding agency and project that you have identified prior to our meeting
Reapply for a grant and evaluate your previous application

Graduate Research Workshop Series
The 2024-25 Graduate Student Research Series presented by the Faculty of Music Research Office provides student-centred workshops and information sessions designed to support the research and creative activities of graduate students in music. Students must register in advance via SharePoint to participate in series sessions.
