The Faculty of Music is thrilled to welcome acclaimed mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, a John R. Stratton Visitor in Music for the 2020-21 academic year. Recognized worldwide as one of today's most exciting vocal stars, Denyce Graves continues to gather unparalleled popular and critical acclaim in performances on four continents. Her career has taken her to the world's great opera houses and concert halls. The combination of her expressive, rich vocalism, elegant stage presence, and exciting theatrical abilities allows her to pursue a wide breadth of operatic portrayals as well as delight audiences in concert and recital appearances.
Denyce Graves will conduct three master classes to concentrate on Art Song, Opera and Cross-over featuring singers from our graduate and undergraduate Voice programs and pianists from our graduate program in Collaborative Piano.

John Stratton Visitor in Music
Named for a great collector of vocal music and historical recorded sound whose collection and trust is stewarded today by an even greater connoisseur Stephen Clarke, the Stratton Visitor brings distinguished specialists in the field of voice and collaborative piano, recent among them Dawn Upshaw, Warren Jones, Stephanie Blythe, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Barbara Hannigan, Stephen Wadsworth, Judith Forst, Eric Owens and the late Jessye Norman.
