To mark the centennial of the birth of Harry Somers—one of Canada’s most influential cultural figures—this one-day conference brings together music scholars and performers for a program of reflection and exchange. Highlights will include papers examining Somers’ legacy and artistic contributions, a keynote address by Brian Cherney of McGill University, the author of Harry Somers (1975), and a short recital. This gathering offers a timely opportunity to consider Somers’ place in Canada’s intellectual and creative history.
