Hannah Davis-Abraham announced as one of SMT-40 Dissertation Fellowship 2025 Winners

The Society for Music Theory recently announced the two winners of this year’s SMT-40 Dissertation Fellowships, and one of the winners is our very own PhD candidate in music theory Hannah Davis-Abraham. Hannah's dissertation is entitled "Expanding Analytical Approaches to Contemporary Compositions."
 
Her research focuses on 21st-century Western classical music and alternative analytical approaches. Her article “Pacing, Performance, and Perception in Alice Ping Yee Ho’s Angst” was published in Contemporary Music Review in 2023, and she has presented her work at the Society for Music Theory, Music Theory Midwest, and Dialogues: Analysis and Performance. Her research has received support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Hannah holds a MA in Music Theory from the University of Toronto, as well as a BMus (Honours) in Piano Performance from Memorial University.
