Biography

With over three decades of experience in the performing arts industry, Andrew Kwan is a recognized thought leader, accomplished arts executive, and dedicated educator and mentor. His extensive network spans nonprofit organisations, academic institutions, government agencies, and national arts associations throughout Canada and abroad. Currently, Kwan lectures at three prominent music schools, University of Toronto, The Glenn Gould School, and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Also, he actively contributes to selection committees, program development boards, and academic councils. Andrew has served on provincial and national music competition juries and many granting agencies, while being a sought-after speaker and panellist at conferences across North America, music institutions, and arts organisations. He has extensive involvement on boards and strategic planning committees of arts organisations, currently involved with Prairie Debut, Axis Music, founding member of AASPAA Canada. Mr. Kwan was the former chair of the Program Development and Program Advisory committees for Centennial College's Music Industry Arts Performance Program.

Passionate about imparting knowledge, Mr. Kwan has designed and delivered engaging lectures and curriculum that empower music students and equip them for success in the industry. He has authored instructional papers on career management and provided guidance through workshops and performance coachings. His mission is to nurture emerging and established musicians, helping them flourish as successful artists over the years. As the founder of Andrew Kwan Artists Management Inc. (AKAM), a highly regarded Canadian artist management agency specialising in personalised career development, artist promotion, and project management in classical and world music, he takes immense pride in curating a world-class roster. Mr. Kwan has been awarded the 2014 CAPACOA Agent of the Year, 2013 Ontario Contact Agent of the Year, 2011 BC Touring Council Agent of the Year. He was commissioned by Debut Atlantic to author “15 Minutes and Counting: A Guide to Showcasing Successfully.” He has also spearheaded the production of over 100 Mazzoleni Masters concerts at The Royal Conservatory of Music. Mr. Kwan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics as well as a Non-Profit Management & Leadership Diploma, both from York University. In music, he holds an ARCT in piano performance from The Royal Conservatory and both Licentiate (LTCL) and Fellowship (FTCL) from Trinity College, London, England.
