Biography
Andrew Novosky is the Senior Piano Technician on staff at the Faculty of Music. Before joining the University of Toronto in 2019, he served as the piano technician at York University (2007-2019). One of Toronto’s primary recording and concert technicians for 15 years, he has extensive experience with instruments from the finest manufacturers—including Steinway, Bosendorfer, Fazioli, Steingraeber, and Yamaha—and a lengthy history working with top artists from every genre in the field, from classical pianists Evgeni Kissen, Richard Goode, Emanuel Ax, Andras Schiff, and Louis Lortie, to contemporary pop artists such as Elton John and Alicia Keys.
Andrew is a graduate of the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and the Piano Technology Program from the University of Western Ontario, and as such combines a unique level of pianistic experience with his mechanical and technical prowess. He takes pride in bridging the gap often found between pianists and their instruments and can often be sought out for counsel on anything from purchasing a new instruments to understanding the mechanics within.
