Biography
Dr. Christine Passmore has been a member of the Shaw Festival Orchestra since 2009 when she was featured in Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, and has played musicals, recitals, and chamber music at The Shaw ever since. Christine also performs at the Stratford Festival and played in the Toronto productions of Les Miserables, The Lord of the Rings, The Phantom of the Opera, and The Sound of Music.
Christine is principal horn of the Esprit Orchestra and second tenor horn in the Hannaford Silver Street Band, and performs regularly with the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company, and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Christine has taught horn students of all ages and levels and was a classroom teacher in several school boards. She holds a Doctor of Music (Horn Pedagogy and Literature) and a Master of Music (Horn Performance) from Indiana University, as well as a BMusEd and a BEd from the University of Western Ontario. Christine has been a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto since 2018.
