Biography

Denis Martin serves as an Assistant Professor of Music Technology and Digital Media at the University of Toronto. Prior to this role, he taught at York University, McGill University, and The State University of New York in Potsdam. His research focuses on sound perception, critical listening, audio system evaluation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in audio research, and education. Denis Martin has presented at multiple Audio Engineering Society (AES) events and co-authored articles in the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society and Empirical Musicology. 

As an audio engineer, Denis Martin specializes in recording contemporary classical music and in mixing and mastering R&B, Indie, Jazz, Folk, Rock, and crossover genres. His work has garnered 3 Juno nominations, 2 ECMA nominations, and the “Académie Charles Cros – Coup de Cœur Musique Contemporaine” award.
