Gabriella Vici
Biography
Gabriella Vici is a second-year PhD student in music theory. Her main research interests are in early twentieth-century music, with a focus on form, hybridity, post-tonality and the tensions that often lie between past and present compositional practices in this repertoire. Gabriella completed her Bachelor of Music (Honours) and Master’s of Music in Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The University of Sydney, followed by an MA in Music Theory at the University of British Columbia. Her current studies are supported by the Connaught International Scholarship and the Mary H. Beatty Fellowship. Gabriella is currently a tutor for the FMUA’s Student Services Program and holds a keen interest in teaching and the study of music theory pedagogy. She further serves the U of T community as co-coordinator of the Theory and Musicology Roundtable Series, Secretary for the Music Graduate Students’ Association, and graduate representative for the Teaching and Learning, and Graduate Education committees. When visiting home in Australia, she enjoys playing violin in orchestra and walking her dog, Goose.
