Biography

James Mason is the Technical Services Librarian for the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto. Currently cataloguing CD's, creating and maintaining library databases, designing and maintaining web resources for the library, as well as being actively engaged in archival activities, constitutes much of James primary activities. James is an active member of The Music Library Association (MLA), the Upper New York Chapter of MLA, Canadian Association of Music Libraries (CAML), and the Canadian Library Association (CLA). James is involved in the Reseach Committee and Communications Committee at the Music Faculty, and Chairs the University of Toronto's Cataloguing and Authorities Users Group, (CAUG). Futhermore, James is involved in the broader Library Community; sitting on the CLA Copyright Committee, helping to author guidelines and policy statements involving copyright. Technology in libraries, copyright, and Canadian music are main focuses of his professional interests; publishing, presenting papers, and preparing poster sessions on subjects including audio preservation, streaming audio services, early Canadian music resources, and copyright.
