Biography

Two-time Juno Award winner and three-time Grammy Award nominee, Mr. Valdepeñas has been a faculty-artist member at the Aspen Music Festival and School for over 20 years. Mentoring young people has been one of the most important aspects of his musical life and as such has taught many students who hold or have held positions in the following orchestras, the Baltimore Symphony, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Gottenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Kansas City Symphony, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Osaka Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the St. Louis Symphony, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the the Vancouver Symphony.

Mr. Valdepeñas was appointed resident conductor of the Royal Conservatory of Music Orchestra and is on faculty at the Glenn Gould School. A prolific recording artist he has over three dozen recordings to his credit and recorded the Mozart clarinet concerto with the English Chamber Orchestra, as well he is a founding member of the Amici Chamber Ensemble and a member of the ARC Ensemble.

Mr. Valdepeñas is accepting students in all the various degrees offered at the University of Toronto.
