Biography

Appointed to the Theory and Composition division of the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto in 1973, John Kruspe specializes in undergraduate theory. A pianist, he regularly is heard in both solo and ensemble settings, and is also an instructor in the Performance division. His interest in improvisation led him to accompany silent films in numerous and varied venues for many years, and then to offer a course on music in cinema and entertainment history. He began his relationship with the Edward Johnson Building when it was one year old; he plans to continue teaching until its demolition in 2072.
