Biography
“Triple-threat ... coloratura” (OperaCanada) Maeve Palmer is known for her sparkling voice and stage presence. An alumna of the Rebanks Family Fellowship and the University of Toronto (UofT) Opera School, Maeve has performed with Opera Atelier, Tapestry Opera, and Chorus Niagara, among other companies. Recent roles include Aunt Lydia (Ruders’ Handmaid’s Tale, BanffCentre), Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore HighlandsOpera), Genio (Haydn’s Orfeo ed Euridice), Jean MacDonald and Daisy Fairchild (The Bells of Baddeck, MacDonald & Burry), and [Helena] cover and ensemble in Tapestry Opera’s RUR: A Torrent of Light (Lizée).
Maeve holds a doctorate specializing in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from UofT focussing on the voice pedagogy of Irish Traditional Sean-Nós singing, and Sean-Nós/Western Lyric fusion genres. Maeve has lectured and given public workshops at the UofT Celtic Studies, Voice Pedagogy, and Voice Studies, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and Queen’s University. She currently teaches first year English Art Song at the University of Toronto.
