Biography

Taryn Dougall is a stage manager and comedian. Taryn has worked in corporate event planning since 2021, managing virtual and hybrid investor relations events for publicly traded companies. A theatre kid at heart, she is happily returning to arts administration and the vibrant world of opera. After finishing her post-secondary education, Taryn trained at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity as an Opera Assistant Stage Manager and fell in love with the challenge and magic of opera. Taryn has worked in opera and theatre across Canada, most notably with the Canadian Opera Company, Canadian Stage, Vancouver Opera, and Calgary Opera.

Selected opera and theatre credits include: Playing Shylock (replacement SM), Is My Microphone On?, Much Ado About Nothing, Measure for Measure, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Canadian Stage); The Runner (tour: Tarragon Theatre, Magnus Theatre, Thousand Islands Playhouse); Anything Goes, Into the Woods (St. Clair College); Ayre, The Rape of Lucretia, No One’s Safe (Against the Grain Theatre); La Bohème (Calgary Opera); Fences, A Christmas Carol (Grand Theatre); Hadrian, Arabella (Canadian Opera Company); The Marriage of Figaro (Vancouver Opera); Of Thee I Sing, Imeneo (U of T Opera).

Taryn proudly co-produces female forward comedy as one half of Stand Up Gals, co-hosting the monthly 'Ladies First Open Mic' at Society Clubhouse (IG: @ladiesfirstto) and various shows across the city.
