Research Office Welcoming incoming Post Doctoral Fellows
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tadhg Sauvey and Dr. Moe Touizrar to the Faculty of Music.
Dr. Sauvey is joining us from Cambridge, where he recently completed his PhD. He is a historian of music in francophone areas of Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. His current project (‘Modal Theory in France, 1815–1945’) is a history of the ideas of modality and modal music in modern French writing.
Dr. Touizrar is an interdisciplinary scholar, most recently based in Finland. Moe studies theoretical, perceptual, and aesthetic facets of orchestral music. In addition to several ongoing scholarly collaborations in both Europe and Canada, he remains active in the multinational project Analysis, Creation, and Teaching of Orchestration (ACTOR, Weblink) which aims to develop new theories and methods for the analysis of orchestral music. His music has been performed in Canada, the USA, and Finland.
Drs. Sauvey and Touizrar will be working alongside Prof. Daphne Tan.
